A standalone desktop trainer for users who want structured COLREGS practice without the bridge simulation systems from the full Watchstander game.
A focused training edition
The Training Administrator exists for people who primarily need Rules of the Road exam practice. It removes ship handling, radar, and the broader bridge-watch environment so the user can concentrate on randomized COLREGS questions, scoring, and repetition.
The current Steam listing describes randomized multiple-choice quizzes based on official COLREGS, rolling average and high-score tracking, clear pass/fail feedback, a minimalist interface with keyboard and touch support, and full offline operation. The application is designed to run on low-spec Windows laptops without requiring a dedicated GPU.
Development plan
Steam currently lists the title as coming to Early Access with a planned January 2027 release. The development plan includes expanding the question bank, refining scoring, adding additional testing options, improving analytics, and continuing to adjust the interface with feedback from officer candidates, instructors, students, and other maritime users.
The title is being developed in parallel with the full Watchstander simulator, which allows improvements to the shared COLREGS question bank and scoring systems to benefit both products while keeping this edition focused on testing and study.
